MUSIC EMOTIONS COGNITION

CSIM Masters' Thesis by Nataliya Gorobinskaya, at UPF Barcelona, Spain

Welcome to my Masters' thesis experiment!

We are aiming to establish a link between music and cognition through emotions. We want to test whether the connection between how well we do on a test and listening to music is mediated by emotions, and if so,

how to manage it.

You will need:

access to internet

ability to send emails

45 min of your time

headphones recommended

Thank you for participating!

EXPERIMENT

Description

In this experiment you will be asked to listen to a video lecture (15 min) on music and will be given a short test on the contents of the lecture. The test is aimed to see what you learned and will consist of 18 multiple choice questions.

Before the test we need to "calibrate" your emotional state by helping you focus. You will be given 25 statements to read out loud and record yourself reading them with your mobile phone or voice recording tool (provided).

There will be 3 surveys to fill out: 1 before the lecture and the other 2 after the quiz.

We expect that the experiment to take around 45 min

4-letter NICKNAME

You will need to use your nickname several times during the experiment. We need this to track responses and put them together. Please, use 2 letters of your first name, followed by 2 letters of your last name. For example, my nickname would be NAGO from Nataliya Gorobinskaya.

CONSENT AND PRIVACY

First Things First
